Jane's 9th birthday party

Jane had a soccer game on the morning of her party. It was cold out!

Her team hasn't been matched well with opponents. They've been scoring so many more goals that our coach has the girls stop shooting so the other team won't feel bad. I think we won this game something like 7-1.

We had her party that afternoon - a few days before her birthday. Her theme was cats so the kids played cat games and colored pictures of cats. Actually they mostly ran around the house and yard screaming, but for part of the time they sat down!

Jane wanted an ice cream cake this year. I used to make them professionally for J.P. Licks when I was in college so I had to think back and remember how I made them! The bottom was chocolate and the top was vanilla/caramel. The chocolate frosting had a hard time staying on the cake when it wasn't in the freezer!

I wish I had thought to get a photo of all the kids together but at least Keegan posed for this one!

Broadmoor

We checked out Broadmoor for the first time last weekend. It was a great place to take a walk!

This frog was really tiny, about the size of a nickel!

The kids has fun pretending to be dogs, they ate their snack out of bowls on the floor!

afternoon at the MFA

The kids were intrigued to attend Greek Community Day at the MFA. Since Jane had a soccer game in the morning we headed into Boston in the afternoon. We discovered this model of the Lincoln Memorial and we were allowed to touch it!

The kids worked on paper mosaics. They each did a dragon.

Then we played the waiting game. We waited in line for half an hour to get tickets to hear Rick Riordan speak. The kids were a little silly! Look at that awesome wall, though.

After we got tickets we went to the bookstore and bought signed copies of two of his books! That made waiting in the line to get into the lecture much more peaceful.

The lecture was great! Very informative and humorous. He talked all about Greek art and where we could find certain pieces in the museum.

Before we went home the kids decorated their own paper vases.

apple picking

A few weeks ago Friday was a half day so we went to pick apples in the afternoon!

It was a beautiful day for a hayride.

We checked out the farm animals, too!

The kids also did the hedge maze and tunnel maze, and we bought some cider to take home.

Malcolm's first soccer game

Malcolm moved up a level in soccer this year also. He's playing with second graders so the game was fun to watch!

applefest 2015

We went to the cottage for applefest this year! We ate apple food and did apple crafts. I have to admit I mostly sat on the rocks and knit, enjoying the beautiful scenery! The kids had a good time in the water together.
