swan boats

We went on the swan boats the first day they were running. Since it was so cold out, it wasn't crowded at all.

Jane's favorite book is "Make Way for Ducklings," so she was absolutely thrilled to be there.

Malcolm preferred to sit on Mack since that's his nickname!

soccer

Jane started soccer a few weeks ago. It's so cute!

We have fun watching her.

springtime

We've tried to be outside every moment it's nice out since in New England you never know what the next day (or moment) will be like.

Check out the attitude!

a craft for cars to drive on

I got the idea for this from this blog post but I changed it quite a bit. I used green velour, black felt and embroidery floss.

Photobucket

I cut out the felt into road shapes:

used the floss to sew the roads to the "grass" and serve as lane markers:

Done! It took about 15 minutes.

Even Eddie liked it.

mega-playdate

We had nine children here at one point yesterday! It went surprisingly well.

busy day

Yesterday we finally bought wooden train tracks for our trains to ride on.

Jane also got a new bike, and Malcolm got a helmet. Luckily she agreed to a boy's bike so Malcolm won't have to ride a pink bike in a few years!

Malcolm can play the memory game now!

more painting and playing outside

Can you tell that Jane is quite the climber?

playground

The first couple playground visits this year were dicey, but now they've learned they need to stick together since there are two of them and only one of me.

watercolors outside

Painting outside is win-win! They get to paint to their hearts' content and there isn't a mess to clean up inside.

Jane and Malcolm did a great job "helping!"

Thursday

A friend from knitting group gave me some quail eggs her birds had laid. It's hard to tell the scale here, but this is a tiny frying pan.

Photobucket

here's one in Janey's hand:

They had a higher yolk to white ratio than chicken eggs and they were delicious. Jane ate four for breakfast!

Later that day, we went to the playground.
