Now of course they want new ones, so I'm knitting a blue cat for Malcolm and a grey mouse for Jane.

puppet show
family day at the MFA
Jane wanted me to photograph her in front of her favorite artworks.
The kids got to make vessels out of clay.
This was a cool touch screen thing they enjoyed playing with. I loved it because I got to spend time looking at art while they were using it.
Couple outdoor shots:
another children's festival
Jane had her first sno-cone!
Mostly the kids were in the bouncy houses but it was hard to get a good photo of that!
busy day!
The kids were a teensy bit freaked out by Peep!
Then we met our friends at the playground.
We had lunch at a local bakery and they sat at the kids' table.
Later that afternoon we went to the beach.
We were all tired by the end of the day!

Freedom Trail
The first part of the trail brought us to the State House. It wasn't open on Sunday so we just looked at it from the outside.
Here's the Old South Meeting House. Inside there are many small cubicles with benches that the kids liked sitting in and pretending they were different houses.
We stopped outside the Old State House for a snack. Inside we had a great time. There's a museum that had many activities for kids. I had never been in, so it was a surprise. We'll definitely go back!
Next was the Faneuil Hall area. Before we went into the actual Faneuil Hall, the kids stopped for this picture and then we found a place to eat. We were hoping to make it to the North End by lunchtime, but instead we ended up at a new Mexican restaurant and it was delicious!
The kids wanted to be the "fire" inside Faneuil Hall. We sat for about 10 minutes to listen to a woman talk about the building and we learned a lot.
We walked across the Greenway to get to the North End.
This is outside Paul Revere's house. He's a distant relative of mine so I always think it's neat to go here.
Of course since we were in the North End we had to stop for coffee and pastries, then we ate them on the Greenway!
We weren't going to make the kids walk all the way back to the beginning, so we took the T. They thought it was loud!
I was very surprised and impressed at how well the kids did all day. We still have a ways to go to finish the trail so we'll pick up where we left off some other time.
On our way home I decided to stop at a garden center and buy some plants. I didn't bring the camera so I don't have photos, but the kids had fun picking everything out with me, then they insisted that they weren't hungry for dinner and needed to help me plant everything that evening.
It was a really fun mother's day!

the circus
We ate lunch at the Green Dragon afterwards. We hadn't been there in years but we used to frequent it because of the Green Dragon in Lord of the Rings. Too bad it was bought by some big company and the food wasn't as good! The kids were still happy since they got hot dogs.
