New Bedford Whaling Museum

Last Saturday we took a trip to New Bedford. To celebrate Melville's 192nd birthday the Whaling Museum had all kinds of crafts and activities for kids to do. Jane and Malcolm have been reading "Jump" and "Burt Dow: Deep Water Man" a lot lately, which both have whales in them, so we thought we'd capitalize on their current whale obsession.

They put a little sailboat together:

Jane drew a little whale scene with chalk:

I grew up in the next town over from New Bedford (Fairhaven) and your pictures bring back such great childhood memories, especially the ones from the zoo. It makes me happy to see that you enjoyed your visit there. I'm excited to take Hannah soon!

Oh my goodness...*I* have a current whale obsession because I'm just finishing up reading Moby Dick. Carrick's room is going to get some whale touches. :) That looks like such a fun museum! And Jane's chalk drawing is beautiful.
