skating lessons

Our town has a free outdoor skating rink, so I thought it would be a good idea to have the kids take lessons. I wasn't sure how to teach both of them at the same time! Malcolm seemed kind of stunned and took it slow, and Jane kept falling and getting up and not wanting help. She wasn't upset at all, though.

This is so neat. Anna went with her winter camp to an indoor skating rink once and had a blast. She said they were using "buckets" to hold on to, so beginner skaters could push themselves forward with those buckets without falling too much. Still, her knees were black and blue the next day.

I'm really not looking forward to the day when Hannah wants to ice skate. That's one winter sport I just really don't enjoy. My nephew just got 7 stitches after a fall during skating--more reason for me to go skiing and sledding :)
