The other day we ate lunch on the porch.

After reading Amelia Bedelia, the kids really wanted a lemon meringue pie, so I had to make one. Unfortunately, Jane didn't like it!

Malcolm had a balance bike last year but it broke, so now he's borrowing a bike with pedals. For a few weeks he was using it as a balance bike, but over the past few days he figured out how to pedal. Now he'll be able to keep up with his sister!

little league opening day

Jane was in a parade last weekend for little league. The parade starts and ends at different places, and I was glad I knew that this year! (Last year I had to rush back to my car a mile away since I hadn't understood the logistics of the parade.) After dropping her off with her team, I drove to the end point and then started walking the parade route in reverse. This photo is when Jane first saw me coming towards her.

After the parade and assembly, we went home since she didn't need to be back for an hour or so.

When we went back, it was time for photos.

Then they had a one-inning exhibition game.

April vacation

Aside from the horrible news on Monday afternoon, we have had a great vacation week. We changed some plans in order to avoid the city, but we ended up having a good time anyway. On Monday we went on a tour of historic places in Acton to celebrate Patriots Day with our friends Jacob and Eliana.

On Tuesday we had a windy visit to the playground. We met our friends Gracie, Dylan and Brandon, but I didn't get a picture of them together.

In the afternoon the kids rode their bikes.

When we got ice cream, I had us eat in the car because it was so windy! Jane even had a bug stuck to her ice cream.

On Wednesday we went to an indoor gym/play space with Meredith and Graham. The kids had so much fun!

After that, we went home for lunch and then met our friends again at the park. It was so nice out!

Jane rode Malcolm's bike and Graham (age 9) rode Jane's! It was so funny.

We began Thursday with some crafts.

Then we met Rosalie and Nolan at the playground.

Jane and Rosalie constructed caterpillar homes because they remembered finding one at that playground last year!

In the afternoon it was "bring your kids to work" day at Daddy's work!

Friday brought more wind, the kids got sand blown in their eyes at this playground. We met up with Hannah and her new sister Zoe! She's so cute. I wish I had taken a photo of them!

At home Jane noticed the magnolia blooming.

children's museum

Last Sunday we headed to the Children's Museum in Boston. We had a good time, but it was pretty crowded so we didn't stay for a super-long time. I miss the days when Jane didn't go to school and we could go to empty museums during the week!

They still call it the "Peep Museum" because they love this room!

We discovered the woodworking area.

The kids also participated in a workshop where they built their own vehicles out of recycled materials. It was fun! Malcolm made a fighter jet.

Reading was part of the visit, of course.

We always have fun outside, too.

wet farm

I convinced Malcolm to go to the farm on Thursday morning. We saw a wild turkey right when we got there, not part of any exhibit!

There were a lot of baby lambs.

Malcolm loved the puddles.

He was excited to go in the woods and we spent a long time there. Finally it was raining too much and I wanted to go in a barn!

The baby pigs were 8 days old!

Lots of baby goats, too!
